LAMARU BEACH BALIKPAPAN EAST KALIMANTAN

Lamaru is the most popular beach in Balikpapan East Kalimantan, as long Batakan to Tritip. When water lessened topography slope slightly, you can play beach volley ball, soccer or futsal in this beach.

As long of beach you can see warung (food shop) whose shelter from palm leaf under Palm three is the Lamaru coastal road. Menu of warung is nasi ayam, soto banjar, fish grill completed with many kind of juice. The favorite drink is coconut, with ice, with sugar or with Sulawesi brown sugar only pay Rp.5.000,00

How to go there?

Its close with center of town, around 30 minute with your own car or 1 hour with public transportation from DAM – Manggar, this public transportation is called pete-pete. From center of this town to Lamaru you can chose Sudirman road and Iswahyudi road or Ring Road then chose to road which is closed by Sepinggan Airport, Around 15 km from airport, after pass ARMY complexes, you can see Oil International Company.

Derawan Islands Berau East Kalimantan


Derawan Island is the most natural turtle conservation in Indonesia. This location is in north of Kalimantan. You can find many turtle species here like sea turtle, green turtle green turtle (Chelonia mydas), Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), Olive ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea), turtle (Dermochelys olivacea), Flatback turtle (Natator depressus), and Loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta).

Leatherback turtle is the biggest turtle, lengh 2 meter and weigh 600-900 kg and the smallest is Olive ridley turtle weigh 50 kg. Green turtle protected by CITES (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species) Appendix 1. Althoug this speciaes is the bigest population but this turtle popuation less and less every year because of human activity..

How to go there?

There is two alternative visits this location:

1. Balikpapan. (JakartaBalikpapan (2 hours) by airplane Rp. 500.000,00, Balikpapan – Samarinda by airplane Rp. 300.000,00). From Balikpapan to Samarinda by bus around 1.5 hour or from Balikpapan to Tanjung Redep by rental car. From Samarinda to Berau by bus.From Berau to Derawan by boat

2. Tarakan (direct Jakarta – Tarakan (3 hours) Rp.800.000,00, Jakarta – Tarakan via Balikpapan by air plane, Tarakan – Berau by a boat, Berau – Derawan by boat.
